Today in Colombo, Srilanka most of the weddings are taking place in Hotels and Wedding Halls. Although most the parents prefer their homes first, if it is big enough to hold the ceremony, and Tamil Hindus prefer temples while Tamil Christian weddings are taking place in their family churches. All the weddings are real family gathering events where friends too gather to celebrate the wedding event. It is easy for the parents to conduct their children's weddings without much hard work when they select these places. They arrange all the necessary things such as "Poruwa" for Sinhalese weddings or 'Manavarai" for Tamils weddings with good seating arrangements. Also they will provide a small stage for the wedding registration ceremony on that day Buffet for lunch or dinner, transport, service of clerics, Music or Live bands and so on will come in to the package to make the function a joyous one for the families of the Bride and the Groom. Also the hotel management used to offer a wedding suite for one day stay as compliments for the newly married couple with a chilled champagne bottle and meals for free.

Normally the charges are calculated by the number of guests whom are invited for the wedding ceremony and the kind of dishes you are selecting for your guests. It will be a full function package that will cover all the aspects for 7 hours of time period. If you need more than that agreed time, then extra charges will be applied per hour. They also have dressing rooms for Bride and bridegroom.
