All the Sri lanka Tamils weddings are focused in one thing, to get the blessing for the newly married couple from the people who witnessed the Matrimonial ceremony.In Saiva religion ceremony,All the visitors are welcomed with opened hand served with Beatle leaf, beatle nut,White lime(chunnambu) along with chewing tobacco, then cool drinks or milk tea or milk coffee will be served with specially made Wedding Short eats(Palakaram) of many kinds. whch are in tamil called "murukku,payaththm urundai,sohi,Shippi,Boonthi Laddu,ravai laddu,ariyatharam,seedai,palrotti,sittundi".After the wedding ceremony the Priest who did all the ceremony will be donated with All kind of available vegetables,rice and other goods as they don't eat outside of their homes of their tradition.This is the first person who gives the blessing to the nearly married couples.

Then Brides father will Give water in a small brsss pot called "Sembu" to all visitors to clean their hand and to join for Lunch. Normally weddings takes place in day time to serve the people Lunch.Even if it takes place in Night they will give the food equal to lunch although there will be "Idiyappam" or "Pittu" for those who can't eat rice and curry in the night.The "Manamedai" where the marriage ceremony takes place is at the time will be equal to a worshiping place, so, there won't be any non-veg food serving.

At the Dining floor A long mat(Panthip pai) will be laid down. Ater everyone sit down,they will put water in silver tumblers.Then banana leaves will be laid down.Salt will be served first in little amount.Then the rice will be served by "akappai" (Wooden spoon) three times for each person.then there will be Vegetable curries served. Papadam and fries will also served. Finally Mysoor Dhal -"Mysoor Parippu" will be served with Gow Ghee("Drum stick-Murungai kai" and "Maravalli-tapiuca" are not served in the wedding curries).On the second serving of rice they will add Kulambu(hot sauce) and rasam or Cocunut milk spiced water(Sothi).Finally Sweet "payasam","Vadai" and Banana to finish the servings.The wedding food is called "aru suvai unavu", it means There will be minimum 6 kinds of tasty Items.

In the Jaffna region there were best cooks with their own cooking team and big pans and utilities. They were called in many names. And their food too were delicious and remembered by people. And in many villages many houses kept bigger cooking pots which can cook rice for 100 people at a time and can cook curry in large amount. Also they kept curry serving pans buckets and spoons. Some houses kept narrow longer mats where at a time nearly 50 persons can sit and dine on a banana leafs. In these villages when a wedding take place all relatives get together and cook for the weeding guests.

So,the parents of the bride and the bride groom try to find the best cook in their place for the wedding cermoney.But today like in Colombo city,there are plenty Catering Services who take care of every thing to make the serving of the food to the visitors.They will bring the food to the place,in vehicle,Food, serving pans,plates, spoons etc.This makes the families of the Bride and bridegroom a lot of work.Some time it make them nervous,if the Service didn't reach in time due to the Traffic.It's better to tell them about this problem,earlier,
