Jaffna Tamil Matrimony flowers

It is no surprise that women have a love to flowers. So when it comes for wedding, flowers  takes a big part. From the bride to visitors take much care to get best, long lasting, bright colored ones. Roses take important place, in the selection of flowers.

Up to 80's in Jaffna, Weddings took place in the bride homes, in the foreground of the Homes they made a big “Kottakai Panthal", with coconut leaves and cover it with white clothes. Then the youngsters will start their own ideas with the Crape paper, varnish paper and flowers specially brought from up countries in big baskets. All these things are once used, they are over, a lot of money spent on them, although people didn't care about it as it is a big get together, every body laughing, decorating, joking and so on. Finally they  decorate with the flowers, for the wedding ceremony. They will have only hired one, is the “Muththu manavarai" where the wedding ceremony takes place.

Now the “Manavarai" is having a different version also along with the traditional one, "Poo manavarai". This is fully made with flowers and expensive. There are many contractors who does this work. You have to make orders early and clearly. Also, to order enough  garlands  for the wedding ceremony. Normally bride side needs 4, and bridegroom needs 5 .bride need flowers for her hairdo, which is very important in Tamil matrimonial ceremony. These days beauticians do a wonderful hairdo with the flower for a bride with a long thick hair. And flowers for pooja and reception table and for the marriage registration ceremony.
